Free, Free, Free – Everything That is Free is Desirable

The My Optus app is a free app that allows customers to pay their Optus bills, manage their account, and access their Optus services:

You can use the app to manage your account without remembering your customer number. To access the app, you use the same login credentials as your “My Account” on the Optus website. You can download the “My Optus” app on your smartphone to access your Optus account on the go. To pay your bill, open the app, tap Billing, and then tap Pay Now. You can use the app to experience the Optus Living Network and get support.

How to use this app?

Using the MyOptus app is easy. Download and open the app. Click Log in or register. Enter your login email address and password. Read and accept the Terms and Conditions. Users get to use a credit or debit card to pay their Optus bill through the My Optus app. There is an option to save the card or bank details for faster bill payments.

Paying the Bill via Optus

Log in to your account, review your bill, and pay using a credit card or linked bank account. Open the app, select Billing, click pay now, enter your card details, and click Pay. Select Afterpay as your payment method at checkout. Login into your account, and complete your checkout.

If you are not able to pay the bill directly, (1) set up a direct debit from your bank account to have the amount due automatically deducted on the bill’s due date. This is a fee-free option; (2) create a one-time code that you can use in your banking app to make payments. You can share the code with others who can pay on your behalf; (3) make a payment via BPAY, but it may take up to three business days for Optus to receive it; (4)  pay your bill in person at an Australia Post Office using cash, EFTPOS, cheque, or money order. (5) call Optus customer service at 1300 309 309 to make a payment using a credit or debit card. (6) visit an Optus store or an authorized retailer.

They Earn a Commission

Optus charges a 0.336% payment processing fee for payments made via credit, debit, or charge cards. There’s also a $2.20 fee for receiving your bill by mail. To avoid this fee, you can set up bill notifications via email or text. If you don’t pay your Optus bill, your account could restricte. Your service could also be disconnected, and your account could be referred to a debt collection agency.

Tentative App Development Cost (will discuss factors affecting this figure subsequently)

To build a bill payment app with similar functionality to Optus, expect to spend anywhere between $30,000 and $250,000 depending on the complexity of features, design, and the development team you choose. Peck in the hierarchy of complexity suggests a simple user interface, basic bill payment functionality, and limited integrations – around $30,000 – $50,000. More advanced features like payment history, multiple billers, account management, and push notifications – $50,000 – $120,000. Even more complex features like budgeting tools, financial analysis, biometric authentication, extensive integrations – $120,000 – $250,000+.

The cost to develop also varies with platform, native apps for iOS and Android are of the highest quality but require separate development for each platform, potentially increasing cost. Cross-platform apps built with React Native and Flutter featuring a single codebase for both iOS and Android, are more cost-effective. Web applications are accessible on any device but might have limitations in functionality.

Like every other app, a team of developers, in-house or freelance can arrange to build it, but that will affect the overall cost of the app. Hiring app development companies in India or an individual full-stack developer also affects the cost.

It is also important to consider:

  • Security: Implementing robust security measures to protect user data is crucial for a financial app.
  • Compliance: Adhering to relevant regulations and data privacy laws.
  • Scalability: Design the app to handle increasing user volume and features in the future.

To get a more precise cost estimate, consult with a reputable mobile app development company in India and discuss your specific requirements in detail.
